About this blog....

Our family is on a six month adventure in Costa Rica. Before leaving, our friends, the Cox family, gave us a precious gift... a photo scavenger hunt of things for us to discover and experience in Costa Rica. This is our account of how the scavenger hunt is going.... along with other pictures and thoughts about our time in Costa Rica.

Guest Post from Mary Kate and Elizabeth....

Pura vida!! Our time here with the Mackinnon's has been full of adventures, beautiful scenery unforgettable memories, and gifts from Jesus. We both cannot stress our gratitude towards God in giving us the opportunity to explore this gorgeous country and most importantly giving us time to be with our second family. From swimming in waterfalls to visiting the local market, every moment has been printed into our hearts and will stay with us forever. God has spoken to us in many different ways throughout the trip.
Elizabeth: I have seen Him through the local people, many who may be very poor, but still remain so amazingly happy. Also, through the unreal nature that only could be made by our God.
Mary Kate: God spoke to me through the examples, no matter how small, I have experienced throughout this trip. For example, during the first day I was here, we went to a coffee plantation and right when we pulled up we saw two oxen being guided together with a yoke. The left ox was much larger than the ox on the right; we concluded that the left ox was training the right ox just like Jesus trains us. The left ox also holds most of the weight just like Jesus asks us to hand our burdens over to Him. It taught me that Jesus is always there guiding us along the way and giving us all we need in order to have eternal life.
This trip has been absolutely amazing, and we could not be more thankful. We will never forget seeing incredible waterfalls, so many different animals, meeting new people, learning about the culture in Costa Rica, spending time at the most beautiful beaches, going to the market, trying new foods, and exploring the rainforest. We love our neighbors with all our hearts, thank you for the unforgettable visit!!
